Very beautiful tapestry representing a village scene with dancers, pipe smokers and musicians and in the background castles and French gardens
The tapestry is signed G WernierRDL and has the Lille (city) stamp
The tapestry is lined and in superb condition and can be directly hung in an interior It has kept very beautiful colors with a very red and blue
Guillaume Werniers who had settled in Lille died in 1738. He married the daughter of Jean de Melter, another weaver from Brussels. Guillaume Werniers took over the management of the workshop in 1700.
